Selective recovery of palladium by wool resin and woven wool fabric resinrbents

چکیده
Protein fibers, including wool selectively adsorb precious-metal ions; hence, they can potentially be used in wastewater treatment applications. Herein, we examined metal-ion adsorption by woven fabric and resins, especially the of Pd(II). When fabrics are treated with chlorine, cuticle layer is removed from fiber surface; this showed superior Pd(II)-adsorption performance compared untreated fabric, a Pd recovery 81% an aqueous solution containing 500 mg L?1 Pd(II) for 24 h at 25 °C, which to that lignin-based adsorbents. The chlorine-treated resin prepared preferentially when placed simulated industrial wastewater, even if it contains variety other metal ions (e.g., Pd(II), Ni(II), Cu(II)). Therefore, resins produced waste as selective adsorbents precious metals such Pd.

The Sterilization of Wool and Its Effect on Physical and Chemical Properties of a Wool Fabric^
From the time wool grows on the sheep, on through the stages of manufacture and wear, the fibers are subject continually to contamination with micro-organisms. Included in this micro-organic flora may be the pathogenic organisms responsible for disease. There may also be other groups less dangerous to health but capable of multiplying rapidly under favorable conditions and causing the wool fibe...
متن کاملPerformance of Flame Retardant Wool Fabric Grafted with Vinyl Phosphate
In this paper, a flame retardant dimethyl-2-(methacryloyloxyethyl) phosphate (DMMEP) was applied to wool fabrics by the graft copolymerization technique initiated with potassium persulfate (KPS) in water media. FTIR and SEM testing were used to explore the grafting evidence on the fiber surface, the SEM results show chemical deposition on the wool fiber surface and the scales could not be seen ...
متن کاملOxidation of Wool : Effect of Hydrogen Peroxide on Wool
The purpose of this investigation was to provide quantitative data showing the effect of oxidizing agents on wool as a basis for studying all processes in which wool is exposed to oxidation reactions. The work reported in this paper deals only with the effect of hydrogen peroxide. Data are presented showing the effects on wool of varying the concentration, temperature, and pH of the hydrogen pe...

I 'N THE PAPER I wrote twenty years ago on the origins of British breeds of sheep, I .attempted to integrate new evidence from archaeology with older documentary evidence.' Medieval archaeology was in its infancy, and the bone remains from sheep gave little information. Illustrations in illuminated manuscripts and later paintings gave better evidence than records. But the most striking new and ...
متن کاملWool Grading
The American or Blood System The American system of grading wool was developed in the early 1800s when the native coarse-wooled sheep were being bred to finewooled Merino rams imported from Spain. It assumes that the offspring of the cross would have fleeces which were intermediate in fineness between the two parents. The wool grade is defined as the percentage of Merino blood carried by the sh...
